Pola Malandain

In France, you are born with a knife in your cradle. In my case, with a tiny Opinel from my grandfather.
Subtle and versatile, knives are among humanity's oldest tools, but also among the most perfect. They represent a perfect unity that can hardly be found in other objects: delicate and sharp, loyal and dangerous, shiny and rustic, feminine and masculine. When I make knives, I am at home – complete and authentic.
I forged my first knife 10 years ago when I was pregnant with my second child. I have now completed training as a knife maker in Thiers – the knife capital of France.
My name is Pola Malandain and I make knives – forged or ground – in small series or according to your wishes. Depending on the planned application, I suggest the steel and its processing.
At our first meeting, I communicate a price range. The fixed price is only determined after heat treatment and selection of the handle material.
