The blade is forged from Japanese multi-layer steel. This Suminagashi steel has a core of high-carbon Shiro Gami and outer layers of hard and tough steel.

An original Kiri wood handle provides a beautiful connection.

And if you really get into the swing of things with the forging, you might even be able to make a small all-steel knife with a ring pommel.
